Generic Carafate interacts with certain other medicines in the digestive tract and slows down their absorption. To avoid this you must take different medicines at different times keeping about an hour’s gap between the two. This will allow the medicines to be absorbed by the body before Carafate starts taking effect.
However, maintaining a gap between medicines might prove difficult as Carafate is to be taken four times a day. In these cases it is better to switch the medicine under your doctor’s guidance.
